I first heard of Fortis as a yeshiva bocher back in the late 70's, much thanks to a school mate who used to live in Israel half the year and would always bring home Israeli rock records that you couldn't even get in America as imports. One such record was called "From Punk to New Wave" and it had English and American bands as well as two Fortis compositions, Ha'Dor Ha'Zeh and Red Mael Misel Ha'Televizia Sheli. As a Jewish kid who was discovering punk at the time, I was amazed at how authentically punk he was. Sadly, I never heard anything other than his Minimal Compact material and I've been on the hunt for Plonter for well over 25 years. The search is finally over and it's been worth the wait! This is an amazing record and I plan on reviewing it for a magazine I write for here in New York called, the Big Takeover so more people can discover this artist for themselves. Bryan Swirsky
